Cartagena Capital arrives in Spain
Cartagena Capital has opened an office in Barcelona, Spain, in order to establish a presence in one of Europe’s top start-up destinations.
Munich/Barcelona, 07.10.2011 – Cartagena Capital has formally entered the Spanish market by opening an office in Barcelona, Spain. The firm is headquartered in Munich with additional offices in London, Paris, Zurich, Palo Alto and now Barcelona. The company has recruited the PHI Ventures team (Pau Cerdá, Alex Collart and Pedro Trujillano) to lead its Spanish division.
Spain is a very attractive market for Cartagena Capital. The country has seen many excellent entrepreneurs starting great companies in recent years. Now Cartagena wishes to help bridging the gap between leading Spanish growth stage companies and the international Venture Capital community as well as introducing these companies to potential strategic acquirers around the globe.
The team of PHI Ventures consists of highly successful former Spanish entrepreneurs, executives and management consultants. The team members formerly founded management consulting company Valoris next to holding management positions at LaCaixa and Grupo Planeta.
Cartagena Capital was founded in 2001 as a corporate finance advisory firm focusing on Technology, Digital Media and Cleantech. Recent transactions include the sale of mobile device management company ubitexx to RIM (BlackBerry), the sale of online games company Owlient to Ubisoft and venture capital fundraising for companies such as baimos technologies and qeep, the leading mobile social entertainment platform for the mass market.
